How do I find the best condom for me?

Spoiled for choice: With so much to choose from, it's not easy to find the right condom. The following information is intended to help you choose the right condom.

"I have an allergy to condoms"

Allergic reactions when using condoms can have various causes. Fortunately, there are also condoms that are suitable for allergy sufferers. Please read on here for more information and tips.

"I don't know my penis size."

Our Tip: just measure!

If you haven't had problems with condom size before, then you need a standard size condom. Please note that most Durex condoms are slightly wider to begin with (56mm nominal width), as are EXS brand condoms. If condoms from these two brands are too big for you, it may be enough to try Markeanother brand.

Larger condoms can be found here. There you will also find varieties that are "only" extra long or "only" extra wide. Finding the right size condom is not always easy. Some XL condoms are only 2-4mm wider than the so-called standard condoms. For this reason we have measured many available varieties.

If your condoms used to be too big for you, you will find a suitable type here. You can also find an overview of all currently available varieties in our XS table, which can even be sorted by length, width or circumference.

Please also note our trial packages to test the right size.

Finding your size is even easier with MyOne made-to-measure condoms. With more than 50 different sizes, you're sure to find the right condom size for you!

"I'm ashamed because I need a small condom size."

With MyOne you don't have to tell anyone your height. The size information is encrypted so that nobody can infer your penis size. Another option is to buy a box of large condoms to store your matching condoms. Or a condom box. And when it "gets down to business", the size no longer plays a role anyway.

"What wall thickness is right for me?"

Extra thin condoms feel more real than "standard" condoms. The thin latex is particularly thermally conductive and you can feel your partner's body even better. The wall thicknesses vary greatly depending on the brand. The palette ranges from a little thinner to barely noticeable. Some varieties also "only" have a thinner wall thickness at the head part.

Extra thick or extra strong condoms have several advantages. They are slightly more tear-resistant than "standard condoms" and are therefore ideal for hard sex techniques or if you only want to use a little lubricant (e.g. during anal intercourse). They also have an effect that lengthens the act somewhat, since the intensity of the feelings in the active partner is somewhat reduced. Some varieties have a specially reinforced area for this reason; the rest of the condom has the usual wall thickness.

"Lube or not?"

Most condoms are lightly moistened with silicone oil. Extra moist condoms are particularly easy to unroll. If you only need to use lubricant from time to time, you may be able to do without it because of the moist condoms.

"When should you use dry condoms?"

Dry condoms are popular for blowjobs when you don't want to taste the lube. Silicone toys should only be used with dry condoms, otherwise silicone oil will attack the silicone. And of course you can use dry condoms if you prefer a different lubricant or similar. More information about dry condoms can be found here.

Stimulation - Condoms are more than a contraceptive

Condoms not only protect, but can enrich your sex life - even if you don't "need" condoms (to protect yourself from pregnancy, or in a long-term partnership). With the right condom, sex gets a whole new "kick". The advantage over penis sleeves: condoms are more sensitive, more elastic and hygienic.

Textured condoms come in several varieties: dots, ribs, ribs and dots, 3-in-1 effect (i.e. ribs, dots and a special shape or similar). The size, shape and number of ribs and dots vary greatly depending on the brand. It is worth trying different varieties here. Condoms with a cooling effect or warming condoms are also an exciting alternative to standard condoms.

"Dotted condoms are only for women."

Dots are more meant to stimulate women. Ribs, on the other hand, are designed to "massage" the penis. However, since both textures are felt by both partners, they can represent a gain in pleasure for both partners.

"I can't use textured condoms for anal, can I?"

You can also use condoms with ribs or dots for anal sex. The motto here is: try out what you like and what is fun!

"Why do I need dots, I don't feel them anyway."

If you prefer big dots/ribs that you can really feel, you should try one of these condoms!

Color and flavour

"Why does a condom need aroma?" Not just for oral sex - although flavored condoms are designed for just that. Unfortunately, there are still types of condoms that smell of latex as soon as the foil seal is opened. Flavored condoms, on the other hand, have a pleasant smell of fruit, sweets, drinks or even flowers. Which flavor you prefer is of course a matter of taste.

"Speaking of taste: Do the condoms taste good?"

Most condoms are only flavored, meaning they only smell like the appropriate flavor. But the eye "eats" too. Condoms are available in a variety of colors. If you don't just want transparent or natural-colored condoms, you can browse here. Incidentally, glow condoms are particularly popular! By the way: the color is of course pure "decoration" - the condom colors have no effect on the function.

"Actually, I don't like condoms because...

  • ...then I don't feel anything anymore.": Try a condom with thin walls. Latex-free condoms are also a good alternative, as they are really thin to begin with. Incidentally, ultra-thin condoms are natural just as safe as other varieties.
  • ..then I feel constricted.": There are many different shapes of condoms. If the tight feeling of the condom bothers you, you can use a condom with a large head, for example. A complete overview of the different condom shapes (with graphic representation ) You will find here.
  • ... they don't taste good during a blowjob.": Dry condoms are a good alternative if you don't like the taste of the lube. If the smell of latex bothers you, it's worth using high-quality products that don't smell like latex. Latex-free condoms are also an option as they are odorless. Of course you can also use flavored condoms.
  • ... I find the nipple uncomfortable.": We recommend the so-called "plain end" condoms, i.e. condoms without a reservoir, just with a rounded end.
  • ... I forget the condom during sex anyway.": We recommend a femidom for you. Just as safe as a condom, but you can insert it before sex! This special condom could also be right for you: the Smart Pre-Erection condom that can also be pulled over the non-erect penis.

Specific questions? Special wishes?

  • "Which condom is ideal for anal intercourse?": Extra thick or extra strong condoms are often recommended for anal intercourse. In fact, you can use almost any condom for anal intercourse, even thinner condoms. Sufficient lubricant is important. You can find more tips on anal intercourse here.
  • "With which condom can I have sex longer?": There are many different types of condoms that lengthen the duration of the act. Some are coated with benzocaine or lidocaine. This reduces the sensitivity of the glans. If you have sensitive skin, it is better to use a condom with a potency ring, a special shape or a reinforced head. You can find out more about potency here.
  • "I would like a condom that offers particularly reliable protection against pregnancy.": First of all, all condoms that are approved in Europe are very safe. Condoms with high wall thickness are very robust, but also less sensitive. Spermicide condoms, on the other hand, offer double the security thanks to a spermicidal agent in the condom.
  • "Which condom do I use as a circumcised man?": We recommend the Reflex Circumsize, which leaves more space for the sensitive glans.
  • "Can I use any condom for toys?": If you use silicone toys, you should definitely use a dry condom, optionally with a water-based lube. The silicone oil used on condoms would otherwise damage the silicone. For toys made of stainless steel, glass, wood, etc., you can use any condom, but non-reservoir condoms are recommended.
  • "Which condom is suitable for vegans?": Condoms that do not contain casein (a milk protein) are suitable for vegans.
